You can’t talk about field hockey without mentioning Penn Manor. The Comets are #1 in the nation and battled their neighbors from Hempfield for a district crown.

Late in the first half, Hempfield has the ball and taking it off the inbound. Laken Gehris deflects the ball off a defender and into the Comets’ goal. Hempfield 1, Penn Manor 0

The Comets would tie it up, however. Jill Witmer dribbles the ball around defenders and takes a diving shot into the goal. Hempfield 1, Penn Manor 1

Penn Manor has a penalty shot and Jill Witmer takes it and puts it up and past the goalie for the game winner.

Penn Manor wins the 2009 AAA District Title with a final Score of 2-1
