Letter of Intent Day – or National Signing Day – isn't until February 4th, 2009, but many local stars took advantage of the earlier signing period in November.

Athletes like wrestler Tony Dallago of Central Dauphin, who will hit the mat for the University of Illinois. "I went and visited the school and the coaches, the coaches came to my house, they're just great guys. Great staff, great team," said Dallago. "It's exciting." Dallago made it to states all 3 years so far, finishing 2nd as a sophomore.

Milton Hershey tight end Gary Gilliam, one of the area's top recruits, is headed to Happy Valley. Gilliam has verbally pledged to Penn State according to pennlive.com. The 6'7", 260lb footballer is being looked at as a tight end or a defensive end. He will join former teammate Abe Koroma, a defensive lineman for the Nittany Lions.

Harrisburg basketball star Stacy Dennis chose James Madison University over Pittsburgh and Syracuse.

Kiersten Darhower of Central Dauphin will play softball at Shippensburg.

Sarah Ault, Hempfield swimmer, will continue her pool performances at Virginia Tech. Ault is a 6-time high school All-American.

Steel-High football star Jeremiah Young will suit up for Hofstra University in New York. Young helped lead the Rollers to back-to-back state titles, and broke the state record for career rushing yards this year. He had more than 9,000 yards to his name.

Andre Campell, Steel-High QB, will join Young at Hofstra. It's the same school that Susquehanna Township grad and current St. Louis Saints receiver Marques Coltston attended.

Brett Houseal, pitcher and first baseman for Hempfield, committed to Marist College in upstate New York. Houseal won 10 games with 95 strikeouts and hit .369 for Hempfield last spring.

DJ Ream, Hempfield pitcher and outfielder, signed on the dotted line for the University of Maryland Baltimore College.

Brandon Hinkle, Hempfield pitcher, has signed with the University of Delaware. He posted a combined 14-2 record over the past 2 years.

Palmyra infielder Zach Speece will join the University of Delaware baseball team. Speece was a first team All-Lebanon County selection.

Cedar Cliff baseball player Renny Parthemore will join Penn State's baseball team.

Jonathan Breeden, Central Dauphin East basketball standout, will head to Siena in the fall.
