We’re in the playoff round for our Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Play of the Year and only one can move into the finals. Here are the results from round 1!

Finishing in the money: Cedar Crest returns a kickoff against Conestoga Valley. The Falcons run a reverse to Sean Sellers, who rumbles 65-yards and then takes out the official! The official was okay. Watch the play >>

Taking the bronze medal: Central Dauphin’s Kyle Wolfe just would not be denied! The senior slipped away from two tackles and then shows off his speed as he rumbles the distance for the score. Watch the play >>

Our runner up: Manheim Township’s Brian Sourber pulls off a 65-yard run, but he pulls out some tricks of his own before he takes off.  Watch the play >>

And the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Play of the Year Finalist: Manheim Central and Cocalico were at a deadlock. With seconds to go and no timeouts, the Barons rush the field goal unit onto the field and Taylor Groff nails one 40-yards out for the win. Watch the play >>

Manheim Central's Tyler Groff’s field goal was enough to boot the Barons into the Play of the Year finals.

The first round of football district playoffs brought us a couple of surprise wins along with some pretty big plays. Check out this week’s Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Play of the Week results!

Coming in with the bronze medal: Steel-High’s Jeff Davis got things rolling on opening kickoff. He fields the ball at the 3, putters around, dodges a few blocks, and then runs 97 yards for the touchdown. Check out this run >>

Our runner up: Cedar Cliff needed a touchdown to tie the game with 2 seconds left in the game, but South Western’s Ryan Sexton was in the end zone to break up the pass and seal the deal for the Mustangs. Check out this game-winning play >>

And the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Play of the Week winner: It’s not so much the play, but rather what happens after the play. Middletown’s Aaron Lupia tosses the ball to Mike Lupia who gets pushed out of bounds right into our News 8 cameraman who takes the hit like a champ! Check out the cameraman’s footwork >>

Cumberland Valley is done celebrating after capturing the AAAA District Crown, but now they have to get ready for State College in the state playoffs.  

“We come out on this nice sunny day and just have a good time with the coaches,” said senior Trevor Harman.

They have had a stunning run in the district playoffs with wins at Central Dauphin and Wilson, and then knocking off the then #1 team in the state, Bishop McDevitt.

The Eagles now face a familiar foe, State College, and they couldn’t be any happier being the underdogs.

Lancaster Catholic’s football team has been waiting a whole year for this: a rematch against West Catholic, the team that blew them out of the state playoffs last year in the semifinals.

The Crusaders are back at work tonight after dispatching Loyalsock in the snow to advance to the state final four.

They will get another crack at West Catholic only this time, Lancaster Catholic is the veteran team after West Catholic lost a number of key players from last year.

West Catholic survived a driving snowstorm and an unbeaten North Schuylkill team to punch its ticket back to the final four.

While the Burrs may not be as explosive offensively this year, they do have one of the best defenses in the state, and the Crusaders have taken notice.

Lancaster Catholic players aren’t overlooking the Burrs

Lancaster Catholic and West Catholic will kickoff at 1pm, December 12^th in Coatesville

After celebrating with some snow angels, the Crusaders will get another shot at Philadelphia West Catholic in the semifinals, the same team that knocked them out last year in the state playoffs.  

It’s tough to take to the air in those wet and muddy nights, so this week’s group of nominees more or less stuck to the ground for their big plays.

Coming in with the bronze medal: Spring Grove’s Neal Grudi fires to Andrew Walker, who gets leveled by York’s Shakeen Smallwood! Walter still managed to hold on to the ball for an 11-yard gain. Great offense by Walker and big hit defensively by Smallwood. Watch the play >>

Our runner up: Conestoga Valley’s Kevin Kelley showed us why he is the L-L League’s rushing leader! Kelley too outraced the defense and went 59-yards to grab his 4^th TD of the night. Watch the play >>

And this week’s Play of the Week winner: Trinity’s Patrick Dill kicked off the second half by fighting his way through traffic, managing to stay on his feet, and raced down the sidelines. He takes it 55-yards unto the end zone. Watch the play >>
