We already have one finalist in the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Play of the Year Playoffs, so now it’s time to pick our second finalist. Check out the winners from their respective weeks and then head to wgal.highschoolplaybook.com to cast your vote!

Week 5: Red Lion’s Chad Kelly takes to the air and finds James Morton, who somehow wrestles the ball from a Spring Grove defender to get the touchdown. Watch the play >>

Week 7: On a Warwick kickoff, McCaskey’s TJ Ford picks up the ball and finds some daylight. He switches the ball to the correct hand and then pulls out all the stops and stiff-arms a defender! Check it out >>

Week 8: Trinity’s Patrick Dill kicked off the second half by fighting his way through traffic, managing to stay on his feet, and raced down the sidelines. He takes it 55-yards unto the end zone. Watch the play >>

Tom Mealy is the offensive coordinator and athletic director at Bishop McDevitt.

Younger brother Todd Mealy is the head coach at Penn Manor.

Both were starters for Bishop McDevitt’s state title team of ’95 but come the Class AAAA district playoffs - a.k.a. The Mealy Bowl - the two will coach against one another for the first time ever.

For many football fans, it’s the greatest weekend of the entire year: Thanksgiving!

For many high school football teams, it means preparing for a district playoff game and there will be a dandy between Bishop McDevitt and Penn Manor.

McDevitt is unbeaten and is the #1 team in the state! They will take on upstart Penn Manor who has never made it this far in the playoffs.

The Crusaders say that Penn Manor will be their toughest challenge so far in the postseason, mainly because of many similarities.

It’s been college decision time for many local athletes across the Susquehanna Valley, and that includes Camp Hill baseball standout L.K. Thompson.

The Lions shortstop officially announced his plans to continue his baseball career at West Virginia University.

Thomson is a 4-year starter and has led Camp Hill to back-to-back Class A state baseball titles. He has also been a part of the D3 and Mid-Penn Capital Division Championship teams.

Thomson had interest from over 40 colleges, but chose West Virginia with future goals in mind: the major leagues.

It’s that time of year again! Local athlete signed on for their collegiate careers on Early Signing Day.

Lebanon Catholic: One of the top high school hoopsters in the area has chosen her college. Lebanon Catholic standout Hailey Carangelo signed her letter of intent with Saint Francis College.

The 5-8 senior led the Beavers to the district title in 2008 and averaged 17-points per game. Hailey will join former Susquehanna Valley basketball stars Kelsey Caruthers (Penn Manor), Allison Smith (Cedar Crest) and Allison Daley (Trinity) when she joins the team next year. Central Dauphin: The Rams have a host of stars committing on paper.

Basketball standout Alyssa Thomas will head to Maryland, while teammate Caitlyn Basset is headed to New England to play for Bryant University.

One of the top wrestlers in the area, Marshall Peppleman, will hit the mat for Cornell in the Ivy League.

Jon Lutz sported a signing day Mohawk as he signed his National Letter of Intent with George Mason, where he will play volleyball.

Hempfield: Gymnast Amanda Carpenter was surrounded by her Prestige Gymnastics teammates as she signed her letter of intent to go to West Virginia University. Amanda has made it to the Junior Olympic Nationals the past 3-years.

Lower Dauphin: Chante Markus is headed to Carson-Newman College for softball, and teammate Lauren Alcorn is headed to the University of Albany for softball.
