The date: June 5th
The place: Hersheypark Stadium
The stakes: a state title.
For Lower Dauphin and Donegal, the stakes also included a piece of school history.
Both teams won their first-ever girl's soccer state title by not giving up a single point.
"It feels awesome," said Donegal senior Brit Knause. "All of us grew up together. When we were little, we never thought we'd be here tonight with the gold medal."
After being doused with a cooler full of water, Lower Dauphin Head Coach Randy Behney summed up his reaction to the win.
"They can dump anything they want on me after winning a game like that."
For AA state champ Donegal, the road to states was a little winding. The team had a league record of 10-4-2 and didn't even make the L-L League playoffs. Not to be discouraged, the Indians rumbled through the district playoffs for a second-place finished, and rolled through the state playoffs without giving up a single goal. And for the first time in school history, the Donegal Indians won a state soccer title.

AAA state champs Lower Dauphin found themselves in a rematch against Hempfield. At the D3 title game, the Knights surpassed the Falcons 1-0 in overtime. The Falcons' revenge was a dominating 4-0 victory to claim the state title. This is also their first in the history of the school's program.
CONGRATULATIONS TO LOWER DAUPHIN AND DONEGAL FOR OUTSTANDING SEASONS!
